While I was in Houston for my medical residency training in the 1990s, Katy, Texas was known as a cattle town west of Houston, best known to me as the site of the Taste of Texas, an outstanding steak restaurant that my husband brought me to for every celebration. Katy is now a component of the thriving megalopolis that is Houston, the fourth biggest city in the United States (always battling closely with Chicago).
Katy, with a population of slightly over 20,000 people, is now regarded a historic history town with a highly ranked educational system. Only when studying for this post did I discover the origins or genesis of the term. The Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad was established in 1865 as part of President Lincoln’s ambition to link the nation. In the 1890s, the Missouri Pacific Railroad, which eventually amalgamated with Union Pacific, operated the Kansas-Texas line and was often known to as the K-T, which shortly became the Katy.

Katy’s 7 Best Restaurants
The Texas Experience
+1713932690110505 The Katy Freeway
Fortunately for me, The Taste of Texas restaurant is still in business after 40 years. I went right before Halloween, and the Christmas decorations were already up, and the celebrations had begun. After all, everything is larger in Texas.
I was seated at the bar since it was so packed. The only difficulty I had throughout my vacation was people reaching over and around me for beverages. It had never happened to me before. The bartender and server that arrived to assist him did an excellent job, and if you ever need salt throughout your stay (pepper is instantly accessible in a huge shaker to be twisted over your salad), it’s concealed on a tiny shelf around the corner on the right side of the bar.
The menu is still a single huge page, front and back, and you may want to start with the dessert platter (just sayin). After studying the menu, I returned to my longstanding favorite, their filet mignon with baked potato, to ensure it remained my fave. You may choose from the salad bar, but I was never a fan of open salad bars before the pandemic, so I was offered the choice of the house salad or a Caesar Salad.
Since I don’t like blue cheese dressing, I was given strawberry (which I took) or vinaigrette or the bartender never got around to finishing the other alternatives.
With permission, I went about snapping pictures while my order was being processed. As the restaurant has evolved, the foundation remains the same. I believe I know the booth my husband preferred, which was on the right and had ample space for the infant seat and outerwear. They’ve added a butcher shop as well as a store. Plus a hefty book with a lot of information on the restaurant’s history, owners, suppliers, staff, and family. With their permission, I am now able to share part of that narrative with you.
The Taste of Texas is a family-owned and operated company. Edd and Nina Hendee have long been passionate about the Katy neighborhood and developing people for future jobs. They’ve amassed such a significant following of dedicated customers (including President (HW) and Mrs. Bush) and their crew that the Taste of Texas is now one of the county’s largest independent eateries.
They offer more Certified Angus Beef than any other independent restaurant in the world, according to their records. And that’s despite the fact that I’ve been dining here four or five times a year for the last 25 years! Like many Texans, they credit their success to God’s steadfast love and, I believe, a great lot of hard work and patience on their side.
I really like how they met. If you couldn’t make it at Taste of Texas, the other top places to get steak in Houston were The Stables and Steak & Ale. As far as I know, none of them are still in existence. But Edd and Nina were both teenagers when they started working at different Steak & Ales in Texas and met at a Steak & Ale restaurant in Richardson, where Nina, who loves to cook, was the company’s first-ever female server and Edd, who was hired as a dishwasher (talk about a match made in heaven! ), had been promoted to a manager, who traveled to locations to improve sales or management systems.
It was love at first sight, they claim; their first date was to get potatoes for the Steak & Ale on Mother’s Day, and they got engaged in the parking lot. The restaurant industry fosters such pleasure and love in these two, and you can taste it in their food.
They were relocated to Houstons restaurant when their son, Edd K., was only two weeks old, and worked there until they were given a transfer to Kansas City. Having significant ties and relatives in Texas, they eventually refused and looked for a building in the region, eventually finding the site in Town & Country Village.
They worked for many months on the structure, which had been destroyed in a fire for the fourth restaurant it hosted, and it debuted on November 19, 1977, with just a few staff and three customers (all relatives). That year, Jimmy Carter was inaugurated as President, the first Star Wars film was published, Microsoft was created, oil was $14.40 per barrel, a gallon of petrol was around 65 cents, and Houston had a population of roughly 1.2 million people. Such a fantastic year.
Although their first menu consisted of pretty standard Tex-Mex food of the day, burgers, chicken fried steaks, flame beverages, and buckets of longneck beer, they named the bar the Lone Star Saloon and it immediately became the neighborhood gathering spot.
Just for Starters, steaks, Prime Beef & Lobster, Finish Your Dinner, Side Orders, Texan Specialties, Salads, Soups, and Local Favorites are now on the menu. When I go to a restaurant that I like and have an usual order, such as the tiny filet and baked potato here, I like to play a What else would I order? game to determine whether I should try anything new. And if I’m on a calorie or a money budget, I’d have to make modifications.
Here, the marinated steak skewers, grilled tenderloin medallions (which the lady next to me, celebrating a birthday with her husband, enjoyed tremendously), Texas Pecan Crusted Chicken (which the lady two down from me on the left nearly swooned over), Herb Marinated Grilled Chicken, Grilled Atlantic Salmon, Jumbo Grilled Shrimp, Jalapeno Stuffed Shrimp, or Grilled Vegetable Plate (perfect for my favorite daughter), just didnt have a chance against my center-cut filet.
I fully agree that this Certified Angus Beef filet is the most tender and delectable filet I’ve ever had. It’s said to be a center cut and precisely slim. It comes with bearnaise sauce (which I tried but didn’t use; the meat is great with just a touch of extra salt), and you may have your filet bacon wrapped if you like.
The bartender informed the couple next to me that we age our steaks for two weeks above industry standards, which is a minimum of 30 days on the small cut and 60 days or more on the big. This ensures that you obtain the softest, juiciest, and most tender piece of beef possible.
Our Filet Oscar is my particular favorite. You may make a 10-, 14-, or tiny six-ounce filet with the Oscar-winning combination of crab meat, asparagus, and hollandaise sauce. If you’re a glutton for punishment, like me, a little grilled shrimp on top makes it even better. All of our steaks now include a trip to our salad bar and a side order, and anything under Texan Specialties includes a trip to the salad bar as well. Take your time, and if you have any questions, please let me know.
With my day being so hectic, I was pleased I hadn’t had breakfast. After what seemed to be a full head of iceberg lettuce, cut in two, with bacon and a ring of a great vinaigrette to finish the presentation, I was able to devour the entire six-ounce filet and a highly packed baked potato (butter, sour cream, spring onions, and cheese).
My bartender advises the Oscar Topping, but I knew I wouldn’t have space for any more.
And if I hadnt been set on my baked potato, I did have the option of Steak Fries, Sweet Potato Fries, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Texas Au Gratin Potatoes, Fresh Green Beans with Almonds and Bacon, Fresh Broccoli with Hollandaise, Baked Sweet Potato with Pecans, Sauteed Fresh Spinach, Fresh Asparagus with Hollandaise, Brussels Sprouts with Bacon Jam, Sauteed Fresh Mushrooms, or Megans Macaroni and Cheese.
Another perk is roaming about for a few minutes after ordering or before your appetizer and main course. That makes a bit extra space in your stomach.
Despite the bar throng, I quite liked my lunch. The women to my left saw my DSLR camera and said that one of them had previously worked as a wedding photographer. She informed me she hadn’t done it in over a year (because to the epidemic), and we exchanged a few pointers. She’d learnt how to conduct a bride pre-shoot and position a giant picture at a wedding. Clever. So the guy still hadn’t seen the bride on the wedding day.
When I wasn’t feeling especially driven to shoot, I shared a method that some of my photography friends had taught me: choose a color and concentrate on obtaining images of it for a day or a week. She was wearing a lovely black and red dress with a red purse, so it was easy to choose red for her. She felt it was a brilliant idea. They were lovely to talk to as we ate our meals and provided suggestions for other eateries to try.
It is the unique aspect of Taste of Texas. You may go there alone, with family and friends, or with new people; there doesn’t seem to be any aloneness when you go there. It is part of the legacy that the Hendees have left.
I attempted to leave without having dessert. I could tell I was full. Anybody who ate that much food should be satisfied. But when the bartender inquired, with a wicked grin in his eye, about my desire for dessert, I told him I was full but that he should try to persuade me otherwise.
As he said, “Let me fetch the dessert dish,” I realized I was in big danger. The dessert trays in Houston are toxic to most people’s good intentions. It’s quite difficult to say no. Yet, dear reader, I was thinking of you and took one for the team.
Wait a minute, I need to fetch my breakfast. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it. Please return shortly.
It’s a good thing my egg salad and spinach salad are just 200 calories and satisfying. The bite of takeout dessert, on the other hand, not so much.
I’ll have the server explain the dessert platter to us. I decided to use my voice recorder to give you the feeling of being there:
We provide New York-style cheesecake with strawberry, raspberry, or caramel sauce on top. This is our brand-new carrot cake, which is really popular. One of our owners’ favorite desserts is key lime pie. Seasonal pumpkin cheesecake. With that, there’s our Crème Brule with fresh berries. Roasted greens with apple dumplings are delicious. Did I already mention that was a bit of heaven? (you didn’t) is a white and dark chocolate mousse wrapped in a velvety chocolate (near!).
My personal favorite is the Snickers cheesecake. A pecan pie with a deep dish. This is our cinnamon slammer (served in a fountain soda glass), cinnamon ice cream blended with amaretto and crème de cocoa, a kind of adult-themed milk shake. Then there’s a four-layer tall chocolate cake (not on the platter) that we altered the recipe for and made so moist that it can’t stand on its own. It just needs to be placed down. That is absurd.
That’s fantastic. And I nearly got out the door without eating since I wasn’t hungry. But then he mentioned takeout, and I couldn’t say no. He promised to prepare it so it didn’t even entice me (right away), and returned with it carefully packaged in a huge meal size take out container with a white bag wrapped over it so you couldn’t see it. That’s how you get a $16 piece of cake sold.
Taking that dessert bullet for you, my reader, was difficult, but I am pleased I did.
I was surprised by the size when I opened it later, when I got home. Almost a foot long, with four deep layers and half a centimeter of thick chocolate frosting, I believe they mix in some coffee; a few of nibbles last a long time. I believe he was correct when he stated I could eat it in three days.
Therefore, if you’re in Katy, don’t miss Taste of Texas. Please let me know which other things you try, because I assume Ill be having my tiny filet and baked potato with every visit.
Furthermore, if you want to sit in the restaurant, make reservations. Taste of Texas is generally fully booked, especially around the holidays. If you want to download it straight on your phone, they do offer a seating app.
If you’re staying in the area, stop by their shop to pick up some steaks to cook at home. You’ll be happy you did.
All of the other eateries on this list were recommended by Katy residents. I’m sure there are more for me to visit on my future trip, and I’ve liked them all.
Cantina Rays Mexican Restaurant
1870 S. Mason Rd.
Rays seems like the Cheers bar from the TV program back in the day, as recommended by someone I met 25 years ago. Everyone turns to see who is arriving through the door and immediately greets you. From the pleasant cashiers who waved as I approached my guy and headed to his seat, to the server who cheerfully offered beverages and service during our time.
Appetizers, Nachos offered at least five ways, quesadillas, chile con queso, Rays Dip (with Taco Meat), and guacamole cooked fresh when you order round out the menu. It doesn’t get much better than that. They also featured odd products such as Brocheta stuffed Jalapenos (Hot) and PK Brocheta (Hot), which is four pieces of chicken breast packed with a slice of fresh jalapeo and a slice of panela cheese wrapped in bacon and served with sour cream and guacamole. Wow.
They offer a whole website dedicated to tacos and taco salads, as well as another dedicated to chalupas, burritos, and tamales.
Tampiquena, a fajita steak, La Gratinada, a fajita steak or chicken breast gently marinated and covered with cheese, mushrooms, broccoli, poblano, green and yellow squash, and so forth. I knew there were going to be some unique stuff in here after seeing those strange selections in the Appetizer area.
Pollo with Rajas, Asado de Puerco, Carne Asada, and La Guisada (tender fajita prepared with onions, tomatoes, and potatoes) are some more alternatives. The menu includes Mole Poblano and Relleno Poblano. My palette has now broadened to accept some of the spices after receiving Hello Fresh, particularly after cooking a pineapple-poblano salsa for fresh fish tacos while in Belize. I was delighted to find them on the menu. Pollo a la Parrilla, Grilled Fish Fillet, and La Gringa (fajita steak or skinless, boneless chicken breast, mildly marinated, served with sweetcorn, broccoli, and carrots we gringas enjoy that! ), as well as a stuffed avocado, are available. All of them come with rice, beans, and guacamole.
Fajitas de La Casa had some great options, including the always festive sizzling fajitas, Fajitas Mexicanos, Quail a la Mexicana (two jumbo quail cooked in butter with grilled onions and bell peppers laid on a bed of rice and served with pico de gallo and guacamole! ), Parrillada (for two or four), Camarones al Chipotle (my favorite daughter probably wouldve chosen these There are some wonderful possibilities there, and it’s a fascinating look at how the chef perceives the world. Yet we persisted in our search.
There are thirteen enchilada specials or platters to choose from, which is ideal for folks like me who have a preconceived concept of what to order at a Mexican restaurant. These are without a doubt wonderful, however the majority of us chose the chef’s more complicated meals.
The Tex-Mex Combos took a long time to finish. Our lovely server kept refilling my glass of water. He was the ideal companion, available when we needed him but otherwise leaving us to our chat.
The Mexico City Dinner includes a crisp taco, puff chile con queso (which I had never seen before), cheese enchilada, tamale, bell pepper-chile relleno, rice, and beans. The Acapulco Dinner, on the other hand, won my companion’s heart. He had to have one of the puff chile with queso, so he made his choice based on that. He believes you should not miss it (and didnt even let me have a bite). The Acapulco comes with a crispy taco, guacamole, puff chile with queso, cheese enchilada, and tamale, as well as rice and beans.
When I asked him to explain it, he said it sounded much like a beignet, except without the powdered sugar and instead with cheese. He adored it. As I already said, it was sufficient for him not to disclose it.
There was a taco, an enchilada, and tamales at the Veracruz Dinner. As a result, there is something for everyone. My favorite daughter would have had the Vegetarian dinner with crunchy bean tacos and cheese enchiladas wrapped in a Spanish sauce in addition to the shrimp appetizer.
I enjoyed Armando’s taco and enchilada combination and Ray’s even more with a burrito de fajita and a cheese enchilada, but I don’t like gravy, so I ordered chicken flautas, three deep fried taquitos stuffed with chicken, and requested them to hold the guacamole, sour cream, rice, and beans.
I knew I had to organize my days around where I would eat and how hungry I may be even while I lived here. I didn’t want to take up any room or eat their food if I couldn’t carry it with me. As he presented my three chicken flautas on a bed of shredded iceberg lettuce (excellent!) and my buddy got his two enormous plates, the waiter had some fun with me. Yet I was completely pleased and didn’t share a bite (though I would have if asked).
Rays does provide a light menu, breakfast specials, children’s meals, and a daily lunch special.
It’s a terrific spot to connect and catch up over lunch. Later in the day, it’s still a fantastic spot to connect, but the volume and music preclude much discussion. It’s a delight in any case, and I’m pleased it was suggested.
Movie Studio Grill
Town & Country Blvd.
While I was leaving the Taste of Texas, I saw this establishment (traffic is chaotic and this was a serendipitous wrong turn kind of event). Since visiting the Road House Cinema in Scottsdale, AZ, my daughter and I have appreciated the movie table service restaurants.
The property features eight theaters that are furnished with the newest and best in cinema quality, as well as a full-service bar and lounge, which is ideal for gathering friends before the movie. While inside the theater, all you have to do is press a button to get speedy service.
And they prepare customized drinks based on the movies that are being presented, which I haven’t seen before. That is quite brilliant.
For example, for the 007 movie, No Time to Die, theyve designed The 007 which they define as A sweet and tart drink appropriate for a secret agent Smirnoff Vodka, Lemon Juice, and Grenadine, Garnished with Mint. I’m sure it was shaken, not stirred.
They have a Scary Berry Punch for the Addams Family movie. Such a blast.
They also have Pepsi products, strawberry lemonade (yes, please! ), bottled water, iced tea, hot coffee, Rockstar Energy drinks, and frozen hot chocolate, which I strongly suggest.
There is a Kids Menu, however you must be accompanied by children under the age of twelve. Shucks.
For starts, we prefer to keep things basic, so we recommend the two-for-$28 starting menu. I like soft pretzel pieces with no mustard or creamy queso, and their corn tortilla chips are delicious without the fire-roasted salsa, but if you have the salsa, be sure to get a couple extra bottles of water. Check. Tiny popcorn. Then there’s the option of half cheese fries or half nachos. My buddy like the cheese fries, so there you have it. In contrast to Scottsdale, they do not provide limitless cocktails or gourmet popcorn.
The soft pretzel nibbles, frozen hot chocolate, and strawberry lemonade are more than plenty for me for a movie, but they have so many options for a meal.
The Amazing Chicken Wings were ideal for me. They’re giant boneless chicken wings with your choice of Sweet Thai Chili Dipping Sauce, Honey BBQ Sauce, or Buffalo Red Hot Sauce. I went with the Sweet Thai Chili Dipping Sauce and like the sweetness. The cold carrots and celery were an excellent addition to the dish.
I also found a hitherto unknown advantage to eating at the movies. You know how you don’t want to eat salad on a first date because you could ruin it? He can’t see me since you’re seated close to each other. So I can take as large a chunk as I want, or he can take as big a bite as he wants, as long as we’re not noisy eaters (and, let’s be honest, better to find it out early than late, right? ), and you can enjoy or inhale your salad.
The Strawberry Avocado Salad was a success! The grilled chicken salad with strawberries, super greens, red onions, cucumber, avocado, and balsamic dressing, created by SMG Chef Allie Colgin, priced $14. I held the Cotija cheese but wanted to let you know that it is available for the taste profile Allie created.
You know I have to see what my favorite daughter will eat and what is left for my next visit.
I make plans (see what I did there? Pro-ject. At a movie theatre. Okay. Moving on.) that she would have the coconut shrimp and a hummus plate, and Id have a hard time choosing between the SMG Burger (choice of protein is a lean beef patty, turkey patty, grilled, chili lime or fried chicken breast or an impossible burger) and the Brisket Sliders with BBQ sauce and fried onion straws on toasted brioche mini buns (theyre so cute, I want them to be gluten free and mailed to me in monthly installments) or a margherita flatbread.
Sure, there will be lots more products to try when the next must-see film is out.
Do you believe a movie theater with exercise equipment will ever be built? With these things coming at me, I’d be better on the elliptical, but maybe we could do a combination? Because what comes next will smash your monthly calorie budget.
Dessert.
With options like Brownie Sundae, vanilla AND chocolate ice cream with moist brownies and homemade cinnamon chips, Beignets, served with a side of chocolate dipping sauce, Cookies, FOUR(!) soft and warm chocolate chip cookies, the aforementioned frozen hot chocolate, blended hot chocolate, vanilla ice cream, and Ghirardelli fudge, or ice cream milkshakes or theater treats, candies like M&Ms and Milk Dud and Raisinets and Twizzler
That makes it simpler to comprehend spending $75 or $100 to go to the movies, but they have wonderful seats (I like to bring a blanket to keep warm), and it includes a meal, a performance, and, most importantly, an experience.
Food and Drinks of Many Types
Kingsland Blvd.
My Taste of Texas co-diners strongly praised this eatery. The description that drew me in was that you had to try the Brava Upside-down Cake. It’s a guava-flavored pineapple cake with a delicious house sauce. Then she made that snap motion that tells you you’ve had to do it. It’s almost like a demand.
It’s a Cuban restaurant that serves Miami-style Cuban cuisine. And they are not exaggerating when they say they offer excellent cuisine, beverages, and environment. Everything is true.
As you go in, they have already stimulated the majority of your senses. The music is joyous and made me want to dance right there (well, maybe a little), the scents are incredible, and the sight is primarily tables inside and out, but broad, open grins. Touch and taste are covered once you order.
When I inquire about the drinks, Martha, the mixologist and proprietor, refers me to two other clients. They happened to be Hispanic and said the flavors are extremely similar to their native nations in the Caribbean, being light and refreshing.
Customers also raved about the ceviche. I thought you’d be interested since it’s not a food I usually eat. They offer it their enthusiastic approval.
Favorite daughter would have a difficult time making a decision here. They serve shrimp in a creamy garlic lime coconut sauce, Cajun BBQ shrimp, and Cuban Pineapple Fried Rice as island specialty. She could grip the latter’s twice-cooked pork belly. I’m guessing she’ll choose two of the three for the initial visit.
The Vaca Frita, with crispy shredded chicken, sautéed onions, and Cuban mojo, was a wonderful, light alternative for me. It will undoubtedly restart your engine and restore your mojo.
And the luscious plantains brought back memories of my time in Belize. If I wanted to end the night on a sweet note, I’d eat it as my evening snack.
Oh, and did I mention the delectable pineapple upside-down cake? Rum Raisin is the house speciality sauce. It’s no surprise that everyone like it.
This is the spot to go if you want to enjoy some amazing Cuban cuisine with a nice bunch of people!
Haitian Cuisine (food truck)
614-962-04505007 E. 3rd Street, Suite 100
This was another Taste of Texas crowd favorite, however it hasn’t been open consistently and reasonably during the epidemic.
Those who are familiar with Haitian cuisine tell me it is authentic, and the quality and amount of food offered is amazing for the costs. Rice varieties based on distinct spice mixes and fresh ingredients are among their specialities.
The Griot, fried pork from paradise, will hit the spot for foodies. Customers like the cubed pork. You’d probably like the Haitian goat and tasso as well.
I stuck to jerk chicken and plantains (no beans) for my non-pork diet and really loved it. The chicken is tasty and not too hot or spicy, with a lovely tang that we obtained after purchasing jerk spice in Haiti on our last Caribbean trip.
Next time I return, I’ll most likely get the Red Snapper, but I’m not sure whether I’ll order it deep-fried or sautéed; I’m used to having it grilled.
My daughter would most likely order the snapper or the Legim Ak Vyan Beef, if it can be made without the meat. Maybe not. The stew is entirely vegetable, including eggplant and carrots, cabbage, watercress, and spinach. We’ll have to wait and see.
Many tourists return, some for days on end (see what I mean about the Houston region needing you to plan your days around where you’ll eat?).
There are so many fantastic restaurants in the region that I feel like eating my way throughout the state is similar to driving. I spotted a billboard on the highway the other day that exactly describes how I feel:
Take it easy. You’ve already arrived in Texas.
So it’s nice that I’ll be here for more than two weeks to see how many new and diverse locations I can discover. Katy has grown so much that it’s like seeing the baby I left with and then return to find her a grown lady, as has the town.
The Hunan Garden
+128157866653154 North Fry Road
While I lived in Houston, I discovered that I like Hunan to Szechwan, and it’s all about the sauce. So I was ecstatic when Hunan Garden was suggested.
Although it isn’t the Hunan Hut I used to frequent, even on my wedding day (! ), it is a great option for carry-out or delivery if you live within a five-mile radius.
What I like most about them is their readiness to make changes to my order.
While my daughter was in second grade and taking Mandarin classes, she learned how to prepare crab Rangoon. Every week, after her CCD sessions, we’d go to the same restaurant in Omaha. When our order was being prepared, she folded the crab Rangoon, and she was learning her lesson. That was a fair trade.
As a result, we are quite particular about how crispy our crab Rangoon is. You have to be cautious since it might become soggy with take-out, but it’s excellent if you open it and eat it in the vehicle!
For me, the General Tso’s was excellent, as was the chicken with garlic sauce (two spice, please) served with celery and carrots instead of their normal veggies.
Always double-check your order before leaving the restaurant. I had gotten fried rice instead of steamed rice, but they swiftly rectified it.
Houz Chick
+1832321572614838 Suite E on Park Row
I’m going to take a wild guess here since Nathan wants seven locations in Katy, and Katy people tend to believe Chick Houz is in Katy, not Houston, despite the fact that it’s just on the border to the west of Houston.
This Peruvian restaurant serves rotisserie chicken that has been marinated for at least 24 hours with 18 Peruvian spices and roasted with natural charcoal in an ecological oven.
It checks all of my boxes in terms of lowering the initial carbon impact, and I appreciate that everything is handcrafted. We spent a few weeks in Peru around our 24-hour visit to Machu Picchu and fell in love with the people and the scenery.
You get a taste of it here at this restaurant, which is full with great people and open grins, and they delivered on their promise that you would enjoy every minute with us.
The restaurant itself is straightforward, with orange seats and basic worktops, as well as a vibrant orange display on the wall. Yet the taste profile they deliver is anything from basic.
With a whole chicken with six sauces, huge French fries, house salad, and two liters of soda pop, the Peruvian Classic Combo is ideal for the entire family, possibly for two meals! At a Peruvian restaurant, no one goes hungry.
Two pieces of chicken (a 1⁄4 chicken), salad, and fries are served to a single individual. That was more than enough to satisfy my hunger.
Yet there are several alternatives to rotisserie chicken. Their Salchipapa comes with a beef frank with pink, yellow, and olive sauce as well as French fries.
We purchased for take-out, so check the website first to make sure they’re open.
Maybe adding Inca Kola for a pleasant surprise if you’re bringing it on a picnic. I like it cold in the bottle (not can).
It was my first trip to Katy in 25 years. Thank you for joining me on this adventure. I’m amazed that, in addition to my favorite steakhouse and a movie theater, you guys managed to get me to try so many dishes that aren’t generally on my menu. Mexican and Chinese, yes. But what about Cubans, Haitians, and Peruvians? It is uncommon. Thank you for putting me on the map. I hope you appreciate my tour of midtown Houston as much as I did.
