Ford Fry and Drew Belline, two equally diligent cooks, founded No. 246 in Decatur’s downtown business area. The restaurant delivers meals prepared using Italian culinary techniques and regional ingredients.

Among the restaurants in Decatur Square, this is a vintage Italian diner that makes us yearn for the simpler days that inspired the chefs.

I had the No. 246 meatball for my entree and the Spicy Rigatoni Vodka, Chianti, and Chocolate Budino for dessert. My companion ordered broccoli and pasta Pomodoro. Everything was delicious.

The wine was wonderful and light, a welcome change from my usual Malbec. I ended up ordering two glasses.

The meatball dissolved in your mouth. Since there were no pepper flakes, I’m not sure how hot the spaghetti was.

The Pomodoro was creamy and delicious. I mean, everything was flawless. The cooks in the little kitchen performed well. You should try it out!
