Best Things To Do In Cancun, Mexico

Go to The Hotel Zone.

Cancun is split into two halves. Cancun Island, also known as The Hotel Zone or Zona Hotelera, and downtown, commonly known as Ciudad Cancun.

Many inhabitants live and work in the downtown area of Ciudad Cancun. The nightlife in the hotel zone is more subdued, and here is where you’ll get the best deals. This is the place to go in Cancun for a cheap supper.

When it comes to beaches, nightlife, and action in Cancun, the Hotel Zone is the place to be. This six-mile length of heaven is home to more than 60 hotels, including all-inclusive resorts.

The Zona Hotelera is just thirty minutes from the airport; simply search for Las Americas Blvd. on any mobile app and go to the beach!

The Hotel Zone is my favorite part of the game. It’s one of the world’s most party-crazy areas. The majority of family hotels, as well as most of the nightlife, are situated here. In fact, this is the place to go if you want to party all night and sleep all day.

The two major boulevards split the Hotel Zone into subsections. The northern zone, along Boulevard Kukulcan (called Bulevar K), is the place to be if you want to party or pretend to party.

There are street entertainers, sidewalk sellers, and a casino in addition to nightclubs, restaurants, and beer bars. The Hotel Zone is the place to go for entertaining activities in Cancun.

Visit Cancn’s Downtown.

Cancun is one of Mexico’s most popular tourist attractions. That was probably the first thing you saw on a billboard advertising Spring Break in Cancun a couple years ago!

Yet Cancun is more than simply beaches. If you want to get away from the resorts and Hotel Zone, go to downtown Cancun, where the residents live and socialize.

Downtown Cancun boasts everything from real Mexican cuisine restaurants to tiny boutique-type stores offering anything from jewelry to apparel to nicknacks for your hotel room, as well as local craftsmen selling their handcrafted items at rock-bottom costs.

Downtown is a popular destination for shopping, eating, entertainment, and other activities. There are several shopping opportunities at Mercado 28 and Malecon Americas Shopping Center.

Have a dinner at the Park Las Palapas while watching the musicians, dancers, and theater performers, or visit one of the numerous local restaurants for some excellent tacos. Downtown Cancun has some of the greatest nightlife, so go in the evening for a less touristy vibe.

When visiting Downtown Cancun Mexico, be sure to stop at La Brasita Neighborhood Bar & Grill for excellent drinks and good moments. With all of activity going on, the downtown area is unquestionably one of the top places to visit in Cancun.

Enjoy On Playa Delfines’ Beaches

335 Punta Nizuc Cancn, Zone Hotelera

Playa Delfines is situated on the northern end of the Hotel Zone and is one of Cancun’s most popular beaches. It is a secluded stretch of beach along Cancun’s coastline.

This one-of-a-kind stretch of beach on Mexico’s Yucatn Peninsula is one of Cancun’s highest points. It’s a terrific way to get away from the crowded beaches in the Hotel Zone, and it’s simple to get there by bus, car, or taxi.

Get a bite to eat at the grill. This is one of the greatest spots to visit in Cancun to see the lovely side of Mexico. Beach Delfines is ideal for families looking to spend time in a calm spot that seems a world away. With lots of peaceful locations along the coastline and a bar, this stretch of beach is also great for couples wishing to get away from it all.

Cancn Golf Course

Whether or not you intend to play golf while on vacation, you will be pleased to learn that there are 15 golf courses in and near Cancun.

Golf is one of the most popular pastimes in this area, and these courses are intended to accommodate players of all skill levels.

This tropical paradise has it all: tough terrain, unique and intriguing designs, breathtaking vistas, cenotes, rainforest, mangroves, lagoon, sand dunes, and even Mayan ruins.

Golfers may visit the Pok Ta Pok Golf Course, which is situated in the Hotel Zone of Cancun. Robert Trent Jones II built the 18-hole, par-72 championship course, which provides amazing ocean views and views of Isla Mujeres.

This path travels between the two lagoons named after it and through Mayan ruinsanother side of Cancun that rests along old trade routes. If you like golf, there is another another option for activities in Cancun.

Coco Bongo elevates Cancun’s nighttime entertainment to new heights.

Bachelorette party or your next night out in Cancun? They take pride in not just offering amazing DJ music, but also in being able to supply high-level show artists, making Coco Bongo the perfect place for any corporate event, bachelor party, or other special occasion.

This area is so full of creativity and imagination that it is hard to explain, so you’ll have to come see it for yourself!

Coco Bongo is an experience, not simply a nightclub. Providing a nighttime experience that makes you feel like you’re in Las Vegas or somewhere similar.

Interactive entertainment (including acrobatics), music, and refreshments are available in the club. It is definitely a destination worth seeing while in Cancun.

Go to Isla Mujeres.

A little island called Isla Mujeres is the ideal antidote to the noise and bustle of adjacent Cancun. Go to a tranquil, tropical paradise with a slower pace, beautiful beaches, exciting shopping, and a plethora of restaurants and pubs.

This Cancun-Isla Mujeres tour is a must for those looking to go off the beaten path while being close to the activity.

Koh-i-Noor is a beautiful seaside hostel with all you need to stay or simply stop by on your trip to Isla Mujeres.

Isla Mujeres is just a twenty-minute boat ride from Isla Cancun.

Don’t pass on some fantastic outdoor activities in Cancun. Visit the marine museum at Punta Sur to learn about the area’s unique ecosystem, or snorkel along the coral near Garrafon Park to see local marine species.

A stroll around town will take you through an unusual mix of 60-year-old buildings, contemporary stores and restaurants, and towering palms that shade brilliantly colored residences. Isla Mujeres has a different way of life than Cancun, yet it is something we strongly suggest doing while there.

Investigate the Tulum Ruins

+52 984 802 5405 Cancun Chetumal Carretera Federal Km 230, 307

See the natural beauty of sunny Cancun while visiting the ruins in Playa del Carmen. The Maya civilisation erected this city about 1200 A.D.

A variety of local buses, tour companies, and collectives serve the area. It has breathtaking views of the beach and the blue Caribbean ocean.

Tulum’s ruins are unlike any other Mayan ruins I’ve seen. Most other Mayan ruins were hidden in forests and were not as lovely as these. It’s also tough to top the setting, which overlooks the beach.

You may visit the location at any time of day, but the dawn provides a genuinely unique experience. The ideal time to observe the sunrise is early in the morning, since the spot becomes crowded with cruise ship passengers in the afternoon. This must-see Cancun sight will transport you back in time.

Explore Xel-Ha Park.

+52 984 875 6000 Chetumal-Puerto Jurez Highway, Kilometer 240

Did you know that Xel-Ha is one of Mexico’s top five attractions and the Yucatan Peninsula’s first eco-archaeological park? This beautiful natural aquarium provides a one-of-a-kind geological phenomena by combining fresh water with Caribbean Sea water.

Wow! is an usual emotion when a tourist sees Xel-Ha for the first time. You’ll see why; it’s like a Jurassic Park lagoon, except real and in technicolor.

This amazing park is situated approximately 80 kilometers (50 miles) north of Cancun and has one of the world’s biggest freshwater habitats.

Xel Ha is home to several frolicking dolphins and sea turtles, as well as a diverse array of both indigenous and foreign species. The whole ecosystem is constantly monitored by professional employees, allowing everyone to relax and enjoy their visit to this renowned tourist site near Cancun.

Temazcal Ritual

Temazcal ceremony, also known as a purifying ritual, is a Mayan custom that is being done in many parts of the world today. Temazcal ceremonies are ancient purifying rituals performed within tiny huts heated with hot stones and water.

The steam produced within the hut transforms it into a sauna, which is distinguished by its high heat of up to 105116 degrees Fahrenheit. You enter the temazcal wearing nothing but a swimming suit or loincloth.

The ceremony is conducted by a native shaman, who both performs the ritual and looks after you. While inside the hut, you’re encouraged to forget about your troubles and concentrate on the heat and sound of the boulders colliding and emitting smoke as they warm up. It’s not something you’ll find elsewhere, so put it on your list of things to do in Cancun.

Investigate Chichen Itza

You must climb this pyramid while visiting Chichen Itza! It’s an incredible experience. A huge spherical hole is located at the apex of the pyramid.

The hole is known as the serpent’s eye, and it denotes darkness. It is stated that if you can gaze down the hole without blinking, your desire will come true.

The pyramid is adorned with a brilliant mosaic depicting death, violence, and resurrection. There are 91 steps leading up to it (the number of years the Mayans thought the world was created).

Chichen Itza’s pyramids are an amazing experience for every tourist, so put it on your bucket list!

Whale Shark Snorkeling

+52 999 278 4313 Cancun, Mexico Whale Shark Av. Puerto Juarez Sm 86

Have you ever longed to get up up and personal with a whale shark? Then schedule this snorkeling excursion and enjoy an afternoon swimming around tame whale sharks with broad mouths. There are no other locations on the planet where you can swim with whale sharks.

They are almost 40 feet long and absolutely harmless and gentle. This is a life-changing event, not simply a pleasant one.

A multilingual professional guide will take you in one of the Caribbean’s quickest boats to places where whale sharks are commonly observed.

A specialist snorkel guide will meet you at the boat and transport you to a secluded beach for some of the greatest snorkeling along the Yucatan coast, including the opportunity to observe endangered and elusive newborn whale sharks. A delicious meal at a typical Yucatan restaurant is provided.

Therefore, if you’ve ever wanted to swim with a shark, this is your opportunity! This is another another fantastic tourist attraction in Cancun.

IkKil Cenote is a great place to swim.

The IkKil Cenote in Yucatan is one of Mexico’s most magnificent caves. This cenote, located near Chichen Itza, features steep granite walls covered in flora and vines that dangle down.

Go into this watery paradise and swim toward the sun to appreciate its natural beauty.

You’ll fall in love with another world under the surface, a lush paradise of green vegetation and colorful fish.

When you walk through tight passages, your eyes will play tricks on you, leading you to a massive cavern that appears like it sprang right from the pages of Jules Vernes. Since this is a unique activity, it quickly becomes one of the greatest day excursions in Cancun.

See a Lucha Libre Wrestling Performance

Yaxchunal 14, 59, 77515 Cancn +52 998 201 5008

Check out this unique Mexican cultural experience if you’re looking for something a little more adventurous than the typical Cancun nightlife.

The battles are fascinating because of the costumes and colorful characters, but it is the contagious enthusiasm of the crowd that brings Lucha Libre to life.

Lucha Libre is a Mexican wrestling program that mixes athleticism, acrobatic display, and humour. A totally different style of pro wrestling, where the emphasis is on comedy and the ludicrous rather than harsh techniques and drama.

In order to win, the warriors use skillful gymnastics and dramatic moves. The battle is similar to a David vs. Goliath narrative, with Goliath generally prevailing.

Luchadors, or combatants, wear brightly colored masks and exchange comedic punches, frequently leading in complete pandemonium and confusion.

Keep an eye out for sea turtles.

Quintana Roo, Mexico

The beaches surrounding Cancun are among of the greatest in the world for seeing sea turtles. The turtles deposit their eggs on the beach between May and October. From July to December, the young hatch and float into the sea.

The Tortugranja turtle farm and conservation facility on Isla Mujeres is near the Mexican city of Cancun. Tjere, you may see sea turtles lay their eggs on the beach and even help release young turtles into the sea.

That certainly is a one-of-a-kind experience! This Cancun attraction is a must-see for anybody interested in Mother Nature’s splendor.

See the Maya Museum and the Miguelito Ruins.

+52 998 885 3843 Boulevard Kukulcan, Kilometer 16.5, Zona Hotelera

At San Miguelito Museum, you may go back in time and discover the region reserved for death and the hereafter.

This archaeological site is regarded as one of the most significant in Mexico in terms of Mayan funeral temple construction.

Six temples may be found on the property, three of which are in great shape and remain in their original position.

Cancun’s Archeological Museum is widely regarded as the most modern of its type in Mexico, as well as one of the best in Latin America. It showcases items from San Miguelito, a non-Maya town that dates back to 600 BC and is currently being excavated.

Among the pieces on show is a stunning jade mask from the pre-Classic period of Mesoamerican civilisation. See and feel the history at this must-see Cancun attraction.

Nichupte Lagoon Kayak

Nichupte Lake is situated near the Mayan archaeological site Cob, between the Hotel Zone and the State of Yucatan. It may seem to be outside of Cancun, yet it is just a half-hour flight or a half-hour drive from downtown Cancun (traffic permitting).

The lagoon is away from highrises and fancy hotels, making it an ideal location for a nature retreat.

The Nichupte lagoon restaurant rents kayaks, paddle boats, and SUPs. The owner has a permit that permits him to transport people into the lagoon’s restricted section.

It is Mexico’s only intact laguna de termino, or southern lagoon, and with a length of more than 15 kilometers, it is one of the most significant wetlands on the Yucatan peninsula. Put this excursion on your list of things to do in Cancun.

See the El Meco Ruins.

It’s hard to believe that a major Maya port city would bury itself on a Yucatan Peninsula island, yet that’s precisely what occurred.

The remains of old El Meco are one of the most fascinating and little-known archeological monuments in this region of Mexico. Even locals are unaware of it.

The old pyramidal structure juts straight up from the ground by the side of the road and seems to be a building in its own right. El Meco has been designated as one of the most intriguing things to do in Cancun! You may reach there via cab or bus from Cancun.

El Meco does not provide tours, so it is something you may do if you have time on your vacation or are interested in visiting more of the Yucatan Peninsula.

Go to the Underwater Museum.

+52 998 810 4508 Lote Cerrada Las Golondrinas #24, Zona Hotelera

Isla Mujeres, Mexico’s smallest Caribbean island, is home to one of the most intriguing tourist attractions in recent years.

The Museo Subacuatico de Arte (MUSA), or Underwater Museum, is a surrealist wonderland that will leave you bewildered.

On the ocean bottom, replicas of famous global statues may be found. Although they don’t seem to be in danger of sinking, the living reef that surrounds and intertwines with them creates the impression that everything is permanent.

The Cancun Underwater Museum, the world’s biggest artificial reef, inaugurated in 2005. A group of six globally known painters finished the project, and their work is now visible at depths ranging from three to one hundred feet.

Now, there are around 500 sculptures scattered over the ocean bottom. The goal of this initiative is to promote marine life in the region by fostering coral development and fish populations. The secondary goal is to provide you with another another fantastic thing to do in Cancun.

Try Scuba Diving

Around the Cancun Riviera Maya shore, there are several diving opportunities. Palancar Reef, Colombia Wall, and Isla Mujeres are the most popular diving sites.

Because of their depths of more than 40 feet, these locations are all intermediate or advanced level dives (12 meters).

Because of the amount of marine life that thrives at these depths, the underwater visibility is excellent, and this region is frequently referred to as Cancun’s aquarium.

In the Cancun region, you may dive with almost every sort of fish and coral reef. Cancun is situated on a portion of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, which has been designated as an ecoregion and is the world’s second-largest reef system (after the Great Barrier Reef).

Whale sharks, hammerhead sharks, eagle rays, manta rays, dolphins, and turtles may all be found in the seas. It’s simply another enjoyable thing to do in Cancun for qualified divers.

In Isla Contoy, you can unwind.

One of my favorite vacation spots is Isla Contoy. It offers all that Cancun has to offer, but in a much more secluded setting and with fewer hustlers.

Since the island is a national park, no construction or development is permitted. When you come, you will see nothing but sandy beach.

Isla Contoy is popular with both divers and swimmers. The aquatic life and coral reefs are obvious draws, and the island trips make it one of our favorite Cancun attractions.

The incredible Isla Contoy is an uninhabited Caribbean island within a few hours from Cancun.

On this excursion, you will board a boat in Cancun and travel to this island paradise, where you and your family or friends will spend time relaxing on the beach, swimming in warm seas, snorkeling, and cruising through mangroves.

Take A Catamaran Cruise

Boats are a calm and enjoyable way to appreciate the beauty of a location, and catamaran cruises provide all of the pleasure of a boat plus more. With a limit of eight people per group, you can be certain that your stay on board will be pleasant and enjoyable.

The skipper is professional as he navigates the boat to numerous places during the day. These excursions might run anything from three hours to all day.

Whether you spend your time on the catamaran fishing or swimming, you shouldn’t skip out on a tasty lunch. While many cruise lines supply snacks and drinks, it is advised that you bring your own. A catamaran sail is a terrific day activity in Cancun for anyone looking to get away from the city’s major attractions.

Cancun is beautiful, and the best way to see it is to spend a quiet day on the ocean. There are several catamaran cruise alternatives available, and whether you want to spend the day resting on the water or participating in some exciting activities, there is always a catamaran cruise available for you.

When Is the Best Time to Visit Cancun?

Cancun’s weather is unpredictable, and it may go from bright to rainy in a matter of hours. Whenever the weather is poor, there are plenty of activities you can do inside.

The greatest time to visit Cancun is during the winter months, from January to March. Winter is considered off-season, and resorts normally offer their lowest hotel prices during this time.
