Where to Find the Best Breakfasts In Budapest
London Coffee Society
Dohány u. 27 // +36 30 204 5379
The incredible coffee and nourishing breakfast options that are available all day long at London Society Coffee have helped the establishment earn a stellar reputation in recent years. The restaurant may not have air conditioning and may not be able to accommodate a large number of customers at once, but they more than make up for these drawbacks with their warm and welcoming atmosphere and attentive service.
The avocado toast with poached eggs and sesame nuts comes highly recommended from me. The salmon and avocado toast that’s topped with a fried egg at that restaurant is as delicious as it appears to be.
As I was saying earlier, there is a limited amount of seating available; therefore, if you are planning on going for breakfast (especially if you are going with a group of more than four people), I would recommend that you plan to arrive when they open at 8:30 in the morning.
Butter Brothers
Lónyay u. 22 // +36 30 456 4019
If you are in the market for a quick pastry and a cup of coffee in Budapest before venturing out to see the sights of the city, this bakery is an excellent choice for breakfast. I liked that Butter Brothers had a more homey feel to it, and the wait staff was entertaining and seemed to take genuine pride in their work. In particular, I like their croissants, but I think you’ll enjoy everything that they bake there.
Because I don’t enjoy having something sweet first thing in the morning, I found that their uncomplicated breakfast was ideal for me.
If you are looking for something sweet to satisfy your cravings, you should definitely check out their cinnamon rolls.
or baked goods stuffed with fruit.
If there is a particular baked good that you have your heart set on, the best time to get there is earlier in the day. Due to the high volume of customers who frequent this establishment, some of the best items they have to offer, such as those buttery croissants, can run out by the afternoon.
TOP Rum
Királyi Pál utca 4 // +36 70 333 2113
Even though TOP Rum didn’t open until February of this year, the restaurant has already established itself as one of the most popular places in Budapest for weekend brunch. On the weekend, they serve a special brunch menu that includes a variety of dishes, such as steak sandwiches served on brioche buns and pancakes topped with vanilla ice cream.
However, the food is only one of many reasons to eat here. The rooftop restaurant in this building has some of the most breathtaking views of Budapest. While we were eating and drinking cocktails, it was a real treat to be able to look down at the city that was below us.
One of the most popular places in Budapest for brunch is TOP Rum. Waffles, bagels, and baked savory egg dishes made from scratch are my top recommendations.
If you are unable to join us for brunch on the weekends, TOP Rum is also open for lunch and dinner from Wednesday through Sunday. After dark, the beauty of the view is not diminished.

fekete
Múzeum krt. 5 // +36 1 787 7503
What was once a humble espresso bar has grown over the years to become one of the most well-known places in town to enjoy breakfast. Breakfast brioches or croissants, bagels, homemade quiches with small side salads, Croque Monsieurs, pancakes, and more are just some of the options that are available here.
And yes, it is still considered to be one of the best coffee shops in the entire city. If you don’t like coffee, you should try one of their cold-pressed juices instead.
Á la Maison
1051 Szervita tér 3 // + 36 20 618 7580
Brunch at a la Maison is served in one of the most picture-perfect settings in all of Budapest. The atmosphere is unpretentious but refined, the service is warm and welcoming, and the staff will assist you in making your selections from the menu.
On the menu, you can find many different takes on the traditional Benedict, such as a Cajun Benedict and a Benedict with Goose Liver, in addition to several vegetarian options.
In addition, we offer avocado toast, a full English breakfast, breakfasts for two, and even filet mignon for breakfast if you so desire.
There are many different kinds of French toast, pancakes, and Belgian waffles that you can choose from if you want to start your day with something sweet.
Platos
Dohány u. 30 // +36 30 976 4891
This understated eatery is a bit of a departure from the gorgeous and hip restaurants in the area because it serves a traditional Hungarian breakfast, which is widely considered to be one of the most effective hangover cures. A shot of palinka, which is a type of local brandy, is served with the breakfast, which also includes scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, fresh vegetables, local meats and cheeses, and more.
Platos also offers a French breakfast, which consists of yogurt and pastries, savory French toasts, and several different egg dishes. This option is ideal for those who are looking for a lighter breakfast or who didn’t have such a wild night out the night before.
Szimpla Kertz
Kazinczy u. 14 // +36 20 261 8669
Szimpla in Budapest presents a novel interpretation of breakfast and brunch fare. The restaurant, which had its beginnings as a farmer’s market, first opened its doors in 2013 and serves dishes that are prepared using the same fresh and local ingredients that are sold at the market.
The eatery serves breakfast at all hours of the day, but on weekends they also provide a “Weekender Farmer’s Breakfast,” which is similar to a brunch buffet with an unlimited supply of locally produced cheese, sausage, homemade soups, fruit, and other foods.
Szimpla also hosts live local music and serves as a showcase for up-and-coming local artists. This establishment is more than just a restaurant; it’s an integral part of the neighborhood.
